How to care for leather products
There is a famous shoe shine shop in front of Yurakucho Station in Tokyo. It is not a permanent shop, but rather, craftsmen come on business trips from around Chiba. It is a highly reputed shop that is often featured on television and other media. Several craftsmen are sitting in front of a bookstore, busily shining shoes.
I sat down on the weekend and asked the craftsman who polished my slightly worn leather shoes to take care of them. The man who polished them said to me, "You only use liquid shoe cream that dries quickly on these shoes, don't you?"
It's a simple cream that you often see at convenience stores and 100 yen shops. I was surprised because it hit the nail on the head.
"If you apply shoe cream directly to the leather, it will become dehydrated and oily, and the leather will dry out and not last as long."
Just like skin care
For leather shoes and leather bags, lightly dust them off, gently wipe the entire surface with a clean cloth lightly dampened with water, then wipe with a dry cloth, and then apply a thin layer of shoe cream or leather cream. It is important to spread the cream thoroughly, and it is a good idea to polish it at the end! And, for the first water, you can use diluted neutral detergent if the leather is very dirty. And, just like with skin, the balance of water and oil is important , so the customer's shoes are quite oily.
I thought, “I see,” and decided to review information about skin types.
Men's skin is oily, but after shaving it becomes dry.
・Oily skin <br>This type can have a lot of oil and moisture. It is also called oily skin. Pores are often open and clogged with dirt, and the skin can become acne-prone. Oily skin and shininess are noticeable. It is said to be more common in men.
- Combination skin : This type is also common in men, and has a mixture of oily and dry skin depending on the area. The area from the forehead to the T-zone (the area from the space between the eyebrows to the nose) is oily, but the areas around the mouth and chin tend to be dry.
Dry skin: This type of skin has little moisture and oil and tends to be dry all the time. In particular, during the dry winter season, the face may become flaky and the skin's barrier function may be weakened.
・Normal skin: Skin with a good balance of moisture and oil, in a clean condition, and with normal turnover.
*Turnover is the process by which skin is renewed over a period of about one month. The old and new epidermis undergo repeated metabolism over the course of about one month (the most widely accepted theory is that it takes 28 days).
There are also people who explain that they have sensitive skin or problem skin.
In particular, shaving can damage your skin without you even realizing it. In particular, T-shaped razors put more strain on the skin than electric shavers, and razor burn is more common. As I wrote last time, regardless of skin type, your skin will temporarily become dry after shaving, so many people are warning you to be careful if you don't take good care of your skin. Especially those who feel stinging around the mouth due to wearing a mask.
Next time I'd like to review the recommended care for each skin type, and I would like to go over most of what the shoe shiner taught me in relation to skin care items.
And, if it were possible, he would like to be able to perform skin diagnosis as well.
