Men's skin is oily?
Over the weekend, I read a few men's beauty books and also looked at some web blogs and information sites to refresh my memory. I'll write down some notes to review the commonalities.
Generally, men's skin is oily, with more sebum. They tend to be shiny, have thicker skin (stratum corneum), and have larger pores. Also, compared to women, many men do not take daily measures against UV rays, which causes damage to the skin. I can relate to the fact that age spots start to appear in middle-aged men.
In that sense, they often explain the importance of washing your face properly (lathering well, not scrubbing, washing carefully with lukewarm water, etc.) and keeping your skin hydrated. Toners that contain vitamin C derivatives, which suppress sebum secretion and also provide UV protection, are particularly useful. Of course, the explanations often recommend using beauty serums, milky lotions, and creams afterwards.
Be careful when shaving
Furthermore, shaving can damage your skin without you even realizing it. In particular, T-shaped razors put more strain on the skin than electric shavers, and they are more likely to cause razor burn. There are many websites that explain how to shave properly.
Reviewing this, I remembered that our company's products were based on this idea from more than six months ago. Last week, when I was listening to the opinions of customers, I heard that when they use GA Cosmetics for shaving in the morning, their skin stays moisturized until the afternoon or evening, and the tightness of the skin disappears. Although it is not a shaving product, it is a quasi-drug, so the main appeal is its effect of "preventing shaving rash".
While there are still big problems to be solved - will the usage method and USP be conveyed? - I'm now returning to the face washing step and thinking about my next product.
About washing your face
There are probably a lot of men who just splash water on their face in the morning. Here are some important points to note about washing your face.
・The recommended lukewarm water for washing your face is below 40℃, a little higher than body temperature. Be careful not to use water that is too hot as it can dry out your skin. Also, it is important to pre-wash your face before using a cleanser. Scrubbing your face is one of the causes of skin damage. Apply the cleanser from your forehead to the so-called T-zone on the bridge of your nose, then to both cheeks. Finally, wash your face around your eyes and mouth.
Two final notes
・If you are exposed to too much UV rays, melanin is produced in excess and the skin's turnover is disrupted, which causes spots. That's why I recommend the face wash mentioned above. Peeling and scrub face washes are also good for men. It depends on your skin type, so choose one that suits you.
・The reason why T-shaped razors put more strain on the skin than electric shavers is because T-shaped razors damage the stratum corneum when cutting the hair from the skin. Electric shavers with more teeth also put less strain on the skin.
I would like to continue to expand the scope and review in the future, deepen my understanding, and also put what I have learned into practice.
